Who is Babylon the Great?
Babylon the Great, also known as the Whore of Babylon and the Mother of Harlots, is the main apostate antichrist church. She is described as the "mother church" which has lead the world astray with her false teachings and doctrines. Now a woman in Bible prophecy represents a church, the pure woman in Revelation 12 being the pure church, God's own people, and the harlot woman in Revelation 17 is the apostate fallen church. But she can also represent a city, which the angel described in Revelation 17:18, saying that Babylon the Great is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth. What city? It's none other than Vatican city, the little horn power that reigns over all the earth. There is no other institution or city that has such influence throughout the world like the Vatican (Roman Catholic Church) has.
>> Let me first prove to you why the Whore of Babylon CANNOT be Islam <<
Let me prove to you without any doubt why Babylon the Great CANNOT be Islam, and why it HAS to be a professing Christian Church. In Revelation 18 we read about the judgment of the Whore of Babylon. And in verse 23 we read ... "the light of the candle shall shine no more at all in thee, and the voice of the Bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more in thee." ... Now, to be a "shining light" to the world and have the voice of the "Bridegroom" in this institution, what does it need to proclaim? JESUS CHRIST! The light is the gospel message and Jesus is the Bridegroom. So this HAS to be a professing Christian church. Islam does NOT proclaim Jesus, therefore the candle and the bridegroom has NEVER been seen in Islam. So for the candle to shine NO MORE and the voice of the Bridegroom to be heard NO MORE, they had to be IN THIS PLACE to start with. Isalm CANNOT be the Whore of Babylon.
This also proves that Babylon the Great CANNOT be just a city like New York. It MUST be a church.
So is Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots, the Roman Catholic Church? Let's find out.
Babylon the Great - Roman Catholic Church
Babylon the Great is described in Revelation chapters 17 and 18, and we will go through the description of this harlot and see if it matches the description of the Roman Catholic Church.
Revelation 17:1 .....'I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters.'
So this is our first clue as
to who Babylon the Great is. This verse tells us that the whore of Babylon sits upon many waters.
Now in Revelation 17:15, we are told that the waters where the whore sits, are people, nations and tongues. The Roman Catholic
Church fits this in two ways. First, the Roman Catholic Church rose to power in Europe AMONG the people, nations and tongues
of the world. In other words, she rose up in a populated area, and the Vatican is based in amongst the countries of Europe.
Second, the Roman Catholic Church "sits" upon the largest membership of people around the world. Her support is far greater than the support of any other church in the world.
Revelation 17:2 .....'the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.'
The wine here would represent the doctrines and teachings of the whore of Babylon. And as the text says, the earth have been made drunk, or rather deceived by her teachings. And the world has committed adultery with Babylon the Great, by worshipping her gods instead of the true God of Heaven, Creator of heaven and earth. The Roman Catholic Church also have representatives for the Vatican in nearly every country in the world. The kings of the earth have certainly committed fornication with Babylon the Great. If you take a look at pictures from Pope John Paul II funeral, you will see kings, presidents, prime ministers and many other leaders of the nations that attended the funeral. Nothing like that has ever happened before.
The papacy is so influential and powerful that nearly every major country consults her before making major policy moves. Her "large diplomatic corps maintains relations with more than 100 nations." (U.S. News and World Report, October 30, 1978, p. 24)
**It is now 2011 and the Vatican has diplomatic relations with 178 countries. Less than 20 left for FULL union with the whole world!

Revelation 17:3 .....'So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.'
So this woman, Babylon the Great, is sitting on a beast. What is the beast? This beast is the same beast as the dragon in Revelation 12 and the sea beast of Revelation 13. Now we learned previously that the beast of Revelation 13 is the Roman Catholic Church. So how can this woman, Babylon the Great AND the beast she is riding on both be the Roman Catholic Church? Well, a beast in Bible prophecy represents a civil power as a kingdom or nation. So while the woman represents the people of the Catholic Church, which is the religious side of this institution/kingdom, the beast represents the civil power of the Roman Catholic Church, known as the Papacy. Now the Papacy would have no power whatsoever without the support of the nations around it. And what do we see in Revelation 17:12-13? .....'And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind and shall give their power and strength to the beast.' So the Papacy (Beast of Revelation 13) receive power from the nations around it and the church sits upon it, directing it. So it is the church of Rome that is sat upon the civil powers and directing them, as shown by the woman sat upon the beast.
Revelation 17:4 .....'And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.'
So Babylon the Great is arrayed in purple and scarlet. What are the main colours of 
the bishops and cardinals (ie, the leaders) of the
Roman Catholic Church? Yes, purple and scarlet! And you will find no other institution decked in gold and precious stones the way
the Church of Rome is. The Roman Catholic Church is incredibly rich! There's another interesting point to make with this. In Exodus 28:6
we find that the ephod for the priest was to be in purple, scarlet and BLUE. And in Numbers 15:38-39 we find that the colour BLUE
represents the law of God, to remember His commandments. This BLUE is missing from the priests of the Roman Catholic Church. Why?
Because they have changed the law of God and turned away from His commandments.
Revelation 17:5 .....'And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.'
Babylon the Great is called "mystery". Does this fit the Roman Catholic Church? Yes! The Catholic Church is the only church that is shrouded in such mystery. Many people wonder what REALLY happens behind closed doors in the Vatican. But one thing is for certain, all will be laid open when Jesus returns! Babylon the Great is also called the mother of harlots. This means that she has daughters. Now the protestant churches came OUT of the Roman Catholic Church, but we are seeing many of them heading back to their "mother" during these end times, through this ecumenical movement of bringing all faiths together for a "common" cause. They give good sounding reasons for it, but the end will be the mark of the beast and going against the law of God. It's interesting to note that the leaders of the Catholic Church even call their church the "mother" church.
Why the name Babylon? This name in Bible prophecy is a symbol of Satan's counterfeit Pagan religion that was setup at Babel. This isn't the real kingdom of Babylon, as that was destroyed a long time ago, but rather it's the Pagan religion that was used in Babylon and carried on right through the ages to today. And if you look deep into the Roman Catholic Church, you will find many of the Pagan traditions of Babylon still very much alive. So we are talking about spiritual Babylon.
Revelation 17:6 .....'And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.'
So Babylon the Great is drunk with the blood of Christians. Does this describe the Roman Catholic Church? Yes! No other institution has blood on their hands like the Roman Catholic Church does. Tens of millions of Christians were slaughtered during the reign of the church between 538AD - 1798AD.
Revelation 17:15 .....'he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.'
Babylon the Great sits upon many waters, which are people, nations and tongues. This describes the Roman Catholic Church, as she certainly sits upon (is supported by) many people and nations. The Roman Catholic Church has huge support all over the world. The support is so large that it equals to approximately 15% of the world population.
Revelation 17:18 .....'And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.'
Is this relating to a real city? If it is, then it is pointing to Vatican city, as nearly every country in the world has a representative for the Vatican. Does the Vatican reign over the kings of the earth? It most certainly does! The whole world looks to the Roman Catholic Church and the pope for religious guidance and leadership. It's just a shame that the world doesn't look to Jesus instead. One day soon, the Roman Catholic Church will reign over the earth again, like they did between 538 - 1798AD, and have their laws (mark of the beast) enforced upon the people of the world.
Revelation 18:7 .....'How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.'
This verse about Babylon the Great perfectly describes the Roman Catholic Church. What other religious institution has glorified herself the way the Roman Catholic Church has? None! What other religious institution has lived deliciously the way the Roman Catholic Church has? None! What other religious institution believes she sits as a queen the way the Roman Catholic Church does? None!
Who is Babylon the Great? Babylon the great, the mother of harlots is indeed the Roman Catholic Church and I pray that God will open your eyes to this truth, especially if you belong to this church. God is calling you out! Revelation 18:4 .....'Come out of her my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.' Please come out of her and fix your eyes firmly on Jesus. No church can save you from your sins. No earthly priest can forgive your sins. JESUS is the ONLY way!
